Georgetown Colorado Travel Information

Georgetown is a small, scenic community nestled in a mountain valley in the Rockies west of Denver. Though only a mile from the interstate, Georgetown feels more isolated, and more at peace with the surrounding environment. The town is both less crowded and more genuine than the more popular resort communities to the west.

There is plenty to see and do in Georgetown. The Georgetown Loop Railroad, a reconstruction of an innovative historical train line that rises a twisting 600 feet in just a few miles, offers daily rides during summer months. The surrounding mountains are filled with trails and old mining roads, and inhabited by herds of elk and bighorn sheep. In addition, a variety of restaurants around town serve both local and international food.

Georgetown is located in north central Colorado, about 45 miles west of Denver.
