Washington DC - Dupont Circle/Kalorama

Dupont Circle/Kalorama is an area of Washington D.C. that was inhabited only by the wealthiest of Americans up until The Great Depression. Leftover from that era are dozens of monolithic mansions and estates where grand balls and parties were constantly being held for the nation’s elite families. Today, many of these mansions are home to different embassies and walking through this district is truly a stroll through unbridled decadence and power.

At the center of this district is Dupont Circle, a lively urban park. The centerpiece and focal point of the park is the large white marble Dupont Memorial Fountain, designed by Daniel Chester French, the sculptor of the Lincoln Memorial. There are also many restaurants and cafes all around the area to enjoy during the morning and afternoon. This area of Washington D.C. is truly a splendid mix of outlandish luxury in the background with everyday life and recreation to be had and enjoyed close at hand.
