Carter G. Woodson Home National Historic Site

Imagine a world in which people like you have no written history, or that which has been written is incomplete or distorted. Before Dr. Carter Goodwin Woodson (1875-1950) began his work, there was very little information, and much of that stereotypical misinformation, about the lives and history of Americans of African descent.

Ice storms in the winter can make travel challenging, but are not the norm.

No Fees.

 Things To Do

Because the Site is closed to the public pending restoration, there are no regularly scheduled activities.

You can visit the location and see the building façade, but there will be no interpretive activities or Park Ranger presence for the pubic.

Occasionally, there may be an event related to the Site, which will be added to the Schedule of Events as needed.
